Artist Reception: Brandon PuckettArtist Reception for Brandon Puckett
On Thursday, October 10, Pend d'Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St. invites you to take a few moments to meet their October artist of the month, Brandon Puckett, and enjoy his vibrant, professional photography pieces from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Brandon is an adventure photographer who enjoys exploring the beauty of our planet. There is a passion behind his images as he works to bring a different understanding of what it means to follow God by seeing nature and the people around us through that lens. He often ventures out on his backcountry trips and travel experiences alone which is where he finds himself and the Creator. It is his hope that as you look at the beauty displayed in his work, you will catch a glimpse of not only being there, but also to marvel at the heart behind the beauty.

Steel Magnolias: PlayLPORT Steel Magnolias
The Lake Pend Oreille Repertory Theater presents Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling at the Panida, 300 N. First Ave. Get tickets at LPOrep.com. LPORT has already produced several acclaimed plays that have been performed at the Panida Theater, and the upcoming will be a showcase of their talents. The original stage play by Robert Harling is based on his experience with his sister's death, and was later made into the famed feature film. It portrays the bond among a group of southern women in Lousiana, with the title suggesting the female characters are "as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel." The story combines humor and comedy with a tragic storyline that is deeply revealing of the women's powerful bond. Shows will be held on Friday/Saturday October 11 and 12, as well as Friday/Saturday October 18 and 19 at 7:00 p.m. With matinee's on Sundays, October 13 and 20 at 2:00 p.m.

Harvest FestHarvest Fest
Join in on the final Saturday Farmers' Market of the season at the annual Harvest Fest on Saturday, October 12! As always, it will be held in Farmin Park (rain, sleet, snow or sunshine!) from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. At this event we'll be celebrating the culmination of another wonderful growing season within the community.​ Come and enjoy handmade goods, local crafts, and more. In addition, the Farmers' Market of Sandpoint is hosting a food drive for the Bonner County Food Bank, so please bring a donation of a non-perishable items for the Food Bank so that you can receive a raffle ticket to win a market gift basket. This years event will benefit a local family enduring a devastating battle with brain cancer. This is a family friendly event with traditional Bavarian festivities including Festzelt, Biergarten, Budenstrasse, Masskrug Rennen, and more. Ages 21+ are encouraged to bring your own stein. 9 LPOSD Safe Routes to School Walk & Roll to School Day. Lake Pend Oreille School District Safe Routes to School invites local families to join students for Walk and Roll to School Day October 9th. Walk and Roll to School Day events raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for walking and biking and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion, and concern for the environment. This Saturday the Carousel of Smiles will be moving to it's new home at 502 Church St. starting around 12:30 p.m. They will be on a rolling trolly that will go down the bike path and through Matchwood Brewing's Oktoberfest celebration for those who would like to see them.

12 "Majority Rules" Documentary. Get over to the Sandpoint Community Hall, 204 S. First Ave. from 1-3 p.m. to learn more about open primaries and ranked choice voting. Join veterans from Veterans for Idaho Voters for a viewing of "Majority Rules", an in-depth look at the pros and cons of open primaries and ranked choice voting. 24-31 Little Theater of Horrors. The Panida and Nova High school are bringing a spooky haunted house experience to the Panida Little Theater, 301 First Ave. This event is suitable for the whole family!  Older guests will be guided through the Little Theater where they will encounter creepy characters that may jump out of dark corners in an eerie maze. (There will be fog, flashing lights are lots of startling-- not for the easily spooked!) And the waiting zone in the front of the theater will feature some experiences for younger guests, like mildly spooky things to touch with your hands or see with your eyes while you enjoy some hot apple cider and caramel corn! $10 for those 14+ and $5 for those under 14. Running every night from 5-8 p.m. Tickets are only available at the door.

25 The Rocky Horror Picture Show.  In this cult classic, sweethearts Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon), stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry), a transvestite scientist. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker (Meat Loaf) and a creepy butler (Richard O'Brien). 31 Trick or Treat at MCS. Visit the haunted conservatory for some sweet treats while you tour the ghostly halls of MCS at 110 Main St. 4:30-6 p.m. Enjoy mysterious music performances, and watch out for "ghosts" of the 1908 conservatory. Come one and all to tour the halls for spine tingling encounters, and of course, lots of candy. Entry is free but donations are welcome.

31 Game Night. Cards against humanity, Jenga, Yahtzee. Bring your friends down to the Tervan, 411 Cedar St., on Thursdays, and choose a game starting at 6:30 p.m.

31 Live Trivia. Head down to Connie's Lounge, 323 Cedar St. starting at 7 p.m. for Live Trivia on Thursdays. $5/person entry fee. *Please note that in the month of November, Trivia night will shift to Wed. nights.

31 Nosferatu: Halloween Movie. Nosferatu: Symphony of Terror. An unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, Nosferatu remains to many viewers the most unsettling vampire film ever made, and its bald, spidery vampire, personified by the diabolical Max Schreck, continues to spawn imitations in the realm of contemporary cinema. Released in 1922, this showing will be Kino Lorber's HD edition, mastered from the acclaimed 35mm restoration by Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Stiftung. Backed by an orchestral performance of Hans Erdmann's original 1922 score, this edition offers unprecedented visual clarity and historical faithfulness to the original release version. 7 Get Plowed. Did you know that fall and winter maintenance on Pine Street Woods access road costs nearly $6,000/year? Plowing the road to Pine Street Woods may not be sexy, but it’s safe. Help keep the road to your community forest trails open all year when you put your pocket change toward plowing at Get Plowed this year. Show up at Mick Duff’s Beer Hall from 5-8 p.m. and they’ll kick back a percentage of profits that night when you kick back a cold one. 8 Selkirk-Pend Oreille Food Summit. Join at the Sandpoint Organic Agriculture Center for this one-day event that celebrates the foods and farms of the Selkirk-Pend Oreille region! Listen to 5-minute Ignite! presentations, participate in community conversations, enjoy local food tastings, and help create a vision for growing connections from farm to table! 8 Unit Souzou. Pend Oreille Arts Council (POAC) invites you to experience the essence of Unit Souzou: a dynamic blend of taiko and Japanese folk dance rooted in creativity and tradition. 8 Sandpoint Contra Dance. Held on the second Friday of each month, it's the 2024 Contra Dance Series. Dance your heart out to live music, and meet your neighbors. Prior dancing experience is not required. All ages are welcome, and you don't have to bring a partner. Beginners are encouraged to arrive on time for the introductory dancing at 7 p.m. $5 donation is suggested for each dance. Dances close down at 10 p.m. Community Hall, 204 S. First Ave.

9 Warren Miller 75. Warren Miller and crew has been going big for 75 years! WM is back this year with a full feature length film with a new lineup of unbelievable action ski adventures filled with powder stashes and chutes from random locations around the world. Entitled "75", it's 10 all-new original segments showcasing diverse snowsports icons, emerging talents, and Olympic hopefuls. Showtime is at 7 p.m. at the Panida, 300 N. First Ave. Its Sandpoint's start to the winter season and like a powder day at Schweitzer you don't want to miss out. Get your tickets here.

9-10 Between Borders Folk Art Exhibit. Details coming soon about an exciting folk art exhibit by Idaho Commission on the Arts. The exhibit reception takes place both days from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. with demonstrations, music, and docents. Local artisans including Kaniksu Folk School will be present.

15 Kids Night Out. Your child will enjoy an evening of games, crafts, stories, a family friendly movie and pizza for dinner. Every third Friday of the month, starting Nov. 15. This will take place from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Sandpoint Community Hall. Check here for more info.

16 Spacepoint Observatory Star Party. Uranus is at Opposition - the closest it will come to the Earth, and brightest it will be in 2024. Uranus is the only planet in our Solar System which revolves 90 Degrees to its orbit. Join from 8-10 p.m. at the Sandpoint Agricultural Center, 10881 N. Boyer Rd. RSVP here.

16-17 Christmas Craft Fair. The Christmas Craft Fair will be held at the Bonner County Fairgrounds, 4203 N. Boyer Ave. from the 16-19th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. It's a community favorite for local artisans and shoppers. Everything from art work to homemade goodies are there to be found. You can enter the gingerbread house contest, or have your kids write a letter to Santa and drop it off at the "North Pole mailbox".

17 Fall Serenade. MCS musicians perform music written by great masters. Wonderful music in the initimate setting of Little Carnegie. Funds raised benefit student scholarships. Check back for a tickets link soon. 5-7 p.m. at MCS/Little Carnegie, 110 Main St.

21 Anticipated Schweitzer Opening Day. Of course, it's dependent on the weather, so keep at eye on Schweitzer.com for the most up-to-date-info.

23-30 K&K Thanksgiving Fishing Derby. Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club's annual fall fishing contest. Derby will not be held on Thanksgiving day. LPOIC.org.

23 Annual Turkey Trot. Join Litehouse YMCA and Sandpoint Parks and Rec for Sandpoint's Annual Turkey Trot food drive. This low key, untimed event features a 5K, 10K, or whatever distance you want to run or walk (no bikes please). This run is free with your donation to the food bank. Signed waiver required (minors need a parent or guardian signature).

24 Tree Lighting and Santa's Arrival Tree lighting ceremony at Jeff Jones Town Square and visit from Santa opens the holiday season in Sandpoint. DowntownSandpoint.com. 208-255-1876

30 Festival of Trees: Friends and Family Day. Join for a jolly good time at this free event held at the Hive, 207 N.
